I chose Herzing University because of how personable their online program felt. I was informed that instructors were readily available, there would be an abundance of resources available for students, and they even offered a fast-track MSN. I decided to give them a chance and start my education.
Since the beginning, Herzing’s academic advisors were extremely helpful and answered all my questions! My instructors were all helpful as well; they helped me become the nurse educator that I am today.
Everybody at Herzing took the time to get to know me even though I was an online student! It was such a huge help that their responses were prompt and my classes managed to address any questions I had. All in all, I had a positive experience with Herzing’s staff and faculty.
A big challenge I faced while working on my degree was time management. I worked full-time as an RN while attending school. I quickly learned to establish a schedule with goals. I dedicated my days off to attending Zoom meetings with instructors, reading required resources and completing homework on time. I found it helpful to complete my assignments early so I could receive feedback and assistance from writing coaches. Challenges are made to be overcome, and I would say I managed to do that!
All my courses and clinicals were valuable toward my education! In particular, I’d say that Theoretical Foundations and Research Methods and Evidence-Based Practice set the foundation for my nurse educator career path. I used the knowledge from these classes in every aspect of my studies, and now, my career.
A valuable lesson I learned during my studies is that during challenging times, I always have support. Family, friends, coworkers, Herzing University instructors, classmates and everyone else at Herzing were there for me. I appreciate each person for their wisdom and guidance while earning my degree. While it was certainly a challenge, it can be overcome with a bit of help, and Herzing will always be there for you!
Now that I’m a graduate, I’m holding a position in staff education. You read that right – I’m already using my degree! I look forward to seeing what the future has in store as I continue to move forward.
